really important for people at the beginning of their learning journey in English,

and for native speakers, too, who are just wishing to develop a richer vocabulary.
同时对于那些想增加词汇量的英语母语人士来说也很重要。
I know that I can always improve my vocab, so hopefully you pick up some tips today.
反正我本人一直都有在改善自己的用词，所以今天希望大家也能学到一些小技巧。
We're looking, in today's lesson, at persuasive words.
今天的课程我们来讲一些“有说服力的单词”。
So, maybe these words would be useful to you if you're trying to persuade someone about how good a project is,
所以，如果你想说服别人某个项目有多好多好，
maybe you want to persuade someone to sponsor you or to support a business venture-something like this.
或者你想说服某人赞助或者支持你的什么企业等等，那么这些单词将对你大有裨益。
Now, this first section of words, it's like dangling a carrot; we're saying:
第一部分的单词，就像悬着摇摆的胡萝卜一样，我们会说：
This thing is so amazing, so you should come along and get involved with this as well.
“这件事情太神奇了”，所以你也应该参与进来。
Okay, first of all: A bargain.
好的，第一个单词：bargain(讨价还价)
Everybody loves a bargain. What's a bargain? Well, say I go down to the market...
大家都喜欢“bargain”，那么“bargain”是什么意思呢？嗯，比如说我要去逛市场……
Now, in London, there're some fantastic markets; we've got Tooting Market, Camden, and some other ones in East London.

A bargain. If I get a bargain in the market, say I'm buying some flowers, I expect to pay 10 pounds-a bargain would seemly get them at five pounds.
“bargain”，如果我要在市场上“bargain”的话，比如我要买一些花儿，我预计要花10英镑，但是如果我“bargain”一下的话可能花5英镑就买下来了。
Columbia Road Market is the good flower market in London.

Okay? So, a bargain, I get something for less money than I expect. Okay? It's a good price.
所以，“bargain”的意思就是“花了比预期更少的钱”。懂了吗，“很实惠的价格”
Best. So, we're... We're saying that something is fantastic. If it's the best, you know, nothing is equal to it; it is the number one.
“Best(最好的)”，我们用它来形容“什么东西很棒”。如果我们说它很“best”，意思就是“没有什么能与之相比，它就是第一”。
If I am or if I'm confident about something, then I know it.
如果我对什么东西很“confident(自信的)”，意思就是“我很确定”。
I am confident that Columbia Road Market is the best flower market in London. 100%, I know this. Confident-no doubt.
“我敢说(confident)哥伦比亚路市场是伦敦最好的(best)花卉市场”。“百分之百的是，我很确定”。所以“confident”的意思就是“很确定”。
Convenient. This means if something is easy, if it fits into your day.
“convenient(方便的)”，意思就是，如果说“做什么事情很容易，你恰好有时间精力去做”。
It's convenient for me to pick up some food on the way to work, because it's just... It's on that road, and I just go into the shop. Okay? Convenient.
“对我来说在上班的路上买些食物很方便(convenient)”，因为……在同一条街上，我直接就能过去买，懂了吗，“convenient(方便的)”。
And from this word, we have a convenience store.
它还有一个引申词：“convenience store(便利店)”
A convenience store is just a shop where you can get lots of different things for your everyday needs.
“convenience store”就是“一种商店”，你在那里可以买到能满足日常所需的各种各样的东西。
Ecstatic. This is a word with a bit more sense of history in terms of the English language.
“ecstatic(狂喜的)”，在英语里这个词比较有历史感。
We get the word ecstasy. So, ecstasy means very happy. If I'm ecstatic, then I am over the moon.
我们能找到“ecstasy(狂喜)”这个单词，“ecstasy”的意思是“狂喜” 如果说我很“ecstatic”，意思就是“我欣喜若狂”。
Okay? I'm ecstatic about this product.
懂了吗？“我对这个产品欣喜若狂(ecstatic)”。
Effective. Can you see the shorter word in that longer word? Okay? If I cover up those three words, there, we have the word effect. Okay?
“effective(有效的)”。你能从这个长单词里看到某个短单词吗？好的，如果我把这三个字母盖住，那么剩下的这个单词就是“effect(效应)”
If something is effective, it has an effect; it does what it's meant to do.
如果说“什么事情effective”，意思就是“什么事情是有效应的(has an effect)，它达到了本该有的结果”
Freedom. Okay? So, we like to buy things that give us good feelings.
“freedom(自由)”，比如说我们喜欢买一些能带给我们好的感觉的东西。
If we are saying that skydiving gives a sense of freedom, then more people will want to do it. Okay?
如果我说跳伞能给人一种“freedom(自由的)”的感觉，那么会有很多人会想去尝试。懂了吗？
I feel free, I have no worries; I have a sense of freedom.
“我感到free(自由的)，我没有烦恼，我有一种freedom(自由)的感觉。”
Guaranteed. Okay? So, a guarantee is a promise.
“guaranteed(保证)”，“guarantee”的意思是“承诺”。
Guaranteed means this is promised by the company that you will get this.
而“guaranteed”的意思就是“公司承诺你能拿到什么”。
Improvement. Again, we can see a shorter word.
“improvement(改善)”，还是先来看短的那个单词，
To improve means to get better, so an improvement is something that is done to make something better.
“to improve”意思就是“变得更好”，所以“improvement”的意思就是“为使某事变得更好而做的事”。
Magnificent. Okay? So, again, there's another shorter word: magnify.
“magnificent(壮丽的,宏伟的)”，它里面也有一个短单词：“magnify(放大)”。
Do you know what a magnifying glass is?
你知道“magnifying glass(放大镜)”是什么吗？
It makes something bigger; a bit like Sherlock Holmes. Okay? He has a magnifying glass to look at his clues.
它会让某个东西变得更大，和夏洛克·福尔摩斯用的那个有点像，懂了吗？他有一个“magnifying glass(放大镜)”用来观察线索。
Magnificent is greater. Okay? A sense of everything being fantastic and wonderful.
“magnificent”的意思就是“更好的”，懂了吗？一种一切都很奇妙的感觉。
Miracle. A miracle. A miracle is... What? Obviously it's a noun.
“miracle(奇迹)”，“miracle”，“miracle”是……什么呢？很显然它是一个名词。
We associate it with biblical stories. Miracle is something out of the ordinary; something unbelievable happens. Okay?
我们把它和圣经故事联系起来，“miracle”就是说“某些东西是不寻常的，它的发生让人感觉不可思议”，懂了吗？
It's a miracle. Okay? But we can use it to describe things now; they don't have to be... We can... We can exaggerate. Okay?
“它是一个奇迹(miracle)”。懂了吗？我们可以用它来描述事物，它不需要……我们可以……我们可以夸大地形容什么事物。好吧？
Profitable. So, let's divide this word into two; we've got profit and able.
“profitable(有利可图的)”。嗯，我们来把这个词分成两部分，然后有了“profit”和“able”。
Able obviously means can; profit-when you make money. Profitable-it can make money. A business that makes money.
“able”显然是“能够”的意思，“profit”就是“挣钱”，所以“profitable”的意思就是“有利可图的”，“有利可图的生意”。
Proven. So, we prove things with evidence. If something is proven, then there is evidence to show that it works.
“proven(被证明的)”，我们用证据(prove)来证明什么事情。如果说什么事情是“proven”，意思就是“有证据显示这件事情是有效的”。
Let's think of some dog food, it might say: Proven to help your dog's teeth.
我们可以以狗粮为例，可以这么说：它对狗狗的牙齿有帮助是被证明了的(proven)。
That means that if we go and look at some dogs who have used this particular type of dog food, we see that they have really good teeth.
意思就是，如果我们去观察一些吃这种特殊狗粮的狗狗，我们会发现他们的牙齿真的很好。
Sorry about that example.

Remarkable. Okay. Again, the suffix able meaning can; remark-a remark is something you say.
“remarkable(非凡的)”，还是先来看它的后缀“able”，意思是“能够”，“remark”的意思是“言论”。
So, remarkable, okay? Say: This dog food is remarkable, it means:
所以“remarkable”，比如说：“这种狗粮很remarkable”，意思就是：
Oo, wow. Yes, I can really say things... Good things about this dog food. It's... It's... It's very tasty for the dogs. They seem to really enjoy it.
哦，哇哦，是的，我敢说……这个狗粮是好东西，它……它……它对狗狗来说非常美味，狗狗看上去真的很喜欢吃。
