欢迎收看《每日语法》栏目,我是卡维。
And I'm Lucija. Today we should take the time to talk about Take. Thoughts, Kaveh?
我是露西佳。今天我们要花点时间讨论一下Take。卡维,你觉得怎么样?
Totally! I would love to talk about Take today.
很好!今天我愿意谈谈Take。
Like our lessons on Have and Make, Take is similar.
正如Have和Make那两期,Take也类似。
Take is an irregular verb.
Take是不规则动词。
The past tense of Take does not have the usual -ed ending.
Take的过去式不是以惯用的-ed结尾。
Instead, the past tense is Took.
而是Took。
The literal meaning of Take is to move or carry something from one place to the other.
Take的字面意思是移动或携带某物从一个地方到另一个地方。
But Take has many other meanings in everyday speech.
但是在日常用语中,Take还有很多其他意思。
English speakers often use the word Take in a way that has an idiomatic meaning.
说英语的人经常使用“Take”这个词的习语含义。
In other words, the verb Take and the words that follow it have a different meaning than the individual words suggest.
换句话说,动词Take和它后面的单词构成不同含义,而不是单个单词所含的意思。
One common structure is Take+A Noun Phrase.
一个常见的结构是Take+一个名词短语。
When Take is followed by noun phrases such as "...charge of", or "...responsibility for",
当Take接名词短语“...charge of”和“...responsibility for”时,
it means to make sure that an action is done correctly.
它的意思是确保做事正确。
She took charge of the project.
她负责这个项目。
But when Take is followed by noun phrases such as "...a minute", or "...time",
但Take接名词短语“...a minute”和“...time”时,
it means to spend time for a task.
意味着花时间去做一件事。
I need one more hour to finish the report.
我还需要一个小时来完成报告。
No worries. Take you time.
不用担心。慢慢来。
A final common meaning of Take is this: Turn in a direction.
Take最后的常见含义是转向。
So you might hear a person say:
你可能听到有人说:
"Take a right". Then "Take a left".
向右转,然后向左转。
I'm glad we Took the time to talk about Take. Me too!
我很高兴我们花时间谈论了Take。我也是!
And that's Everyday Grammar!
