Reports said that Ant Financial, Alibaba’s financial-services affiliate, was close to buying a stake in Caixin, a respected Chinese business magazine. A deal would be the e-commerce giant’s second media investment in short order: in December Alibaba bought the South China Morning Post, a Hong Kong newspaper. Tencent, another big Chinese internet firm, invested in Caixin in 2012.
